Curbside Outreach
Curbside Outreach
The San Francisco Quilters Guild has a long history of making and donating quilts to organizations in San Francisco and the larger community. And this tradition continues in a new form while the pandemic prevents indoor gatherings. Called Curbside Outreach, it’s an opportunity to drop off completed work or donations and pick up any or all components for your next project. Manned by co-chairs Jessica and Adrienne, it typically takes places on the first and third Saturday of the month, from 10 a.m. to noon, in front of Adrienne’s garage. You’ll find Adrienne’s address in the Membership Directory.

Community Outreach Sewcial
Community Outreach Sewcial
A day for SFQG members to socialize and work together, via Zoom, on a variety of Community Outreach projects, including a new Window Frames lap quilt. The Sewcial runs from 10 a.m.to 2 p.m. with a half-hour lunch break at noon. Jessica and Adrienne will have kits available in advance—via Curbside pick-up—for participants who want to start a Window Frame lap quilt during the Sewcial. These quilts have 10 blocks and finish at 40" x 50." The kits contain 20 precut squares; fabric for half-square triangles and the frame around the smaller blocks; plus binding, backing, batting and a pattern. Quilters who want to use their own fabric for this project can get Jessica's PDF pattern by clicking this link. Please get in touch with Jessica well in advance, via her contact info in the Membership Directory, to request a kit. You can pick up your kit from Curbside Outreach in February and the first weekend in March. Patterns will also be available at Curbside Outreach. Click here for a registration link for this Community Outreach Sewcial.

Lisa Walton: Leap and the Net Will Appear
Lisa Walton: Leap and the Net Will Appear
This Zoom meeting features Australian textile artist Lisa Walton in a presentation about her vibrant pieces that incorporate a passion for hand-dyed and painted fabrics, as well as the path of exploration and risk-taking she has pursued. Members will find the Zoom link under the Members Only tab and will also receive the link via eBlast. Guests may click this link to pay and register. Lisa will take us through her creative journey, showing her development over the years and highlighting the milestones and “leaps” she has taken. A teacher of quiltmaking and surface design for more than 15 years, Lisa has also published many patterns and books on quilting techniques, surface design and beading on fabric. She completed her term as president of Studio Art Quilts Associates (SAQA) in 2019. Learn more about Lisa at her website.
