Challenge Quilts are small works that interested members make in response to a theme and are displayed at the guild’s biennial quilt show. They’re intended to foster self-expression, creative growth, experimentation with new techniques … and fun.

  • Theme:  NO RULE(R)S 
  • What can be used:
    • Any cutting instrument without using a rule of any kind.  FREE HAND!
    • Any SOLID fabrics can be used.  
    • Any pattern—improv, traditional blocks with a wonky twist
  • Size:
    • Maximum size is 20” x 20.”‘
    • Must have top/batting/backing quilt sandwich.
    • A straight ruler can be used to only square up your quilt.
  • Techniques:
    • Only piecing can be used for the quilt top. 
    • Machine and hand piecing/quilting welcomed.  
    • Embellishments can be added.
  • Dates:  
    • Challenge Quilts will be due as part of the show entry process.
