Challenge Quilts
Challenge Quilts are small works that interested members make in response to a theme and are displayed at the guild’s biennial quilt show. They’re intended to foster self-expression, creative growth, experimentation with new techniques … and fun.
The Challenge Theme for QUILT San Francisco 2027 is …
NO RULE(R)S.
- Theme: NO RULE(R)S
- What can be used:
- Any cutting instrument without using a rule of any kind. FREE HAND!
- Any SOLID fabrics can be used.
- Any pattern—improv, traditional blocks with a wonky twist
- Size:
- Maximum size is 20” x 20.”‘
- Must have top/batting/backing quilt sandwich.
- A straight ruler can be used to only square up your quilt.
- Techniques:
- Only piecing can be used for the quilt top.
- Machine and hand piecing/quilting welcomed.
- Embellishments can be added.
- Dates:
- Challenge Quilts will be due as part of the show entry process.
