Workshop Policies, Cancellations, & Waitlists

For a current list of our upcoming Workshops, view the Workshop List on our Calendar.

Workshops are open on a first-come basis. You must register, with payment, to confirm participation. Workshops are made available to guild members first. Enrollment is opened to non-members 1-2 months prior to a workshop.

Equity Pricing

In order to provide our workshops to as many members as possible, we have instituted a sliding pay scale. The goal is to provide broader accessibility while still fairly compensating the speakers and teachers by having attendees pay based on their financial means. Only you and the Wokrshop Chairs will know which ticket type you bought.

The breakdown of our fees for events works like so:

  • Standard: This is the base price for the workshop. If you don’t have any financial hardship, we encourage you to support the workshop with this price. (e.g. you can go to a fabric shop on a whim and buy a few yards without needing to check your bank balance, but might have to save for a new machine.)
  • Equity: Consider paying this lower amount if the Standard price of the workshop would create a financial burden. (e.g. you need to pause and check your budget before buying a fat quarter of fabric.)
  • Pay It Forward: Consider paying this amount if you are able to contribute to ensuring that all those who want to attend our events can. (e.g. you are able to buy new fabrics and tools as you wish without needing to check your budget)
  • Non-Member tickets will be sold at the Pay-It-Forward price, although we do encourage you to sign up for membership! It is currently only $45/year!

Cancellations

For the SFQG to host professional instructors, we need to cover instructor costs and for that reason, once you register there are no cancellations or refunds. Members may “transfer” their registration to another member; but the guild and its workshop chairs will not be responsible for this exchange, and all arrangements and funds must be exchanged between the individual guild members. Once members find someone to exchange with, they are responsible for alerting the Workshop chairs so they can share all class information with the new attendee.

Waitlists

We maintain waitlists once workshops are full. If you have trouble joining the waitlist via the ticket sales site, please contact the Workshop Chairs directly at workshops@sfquiltersguild.org to be placed on the waitlist. If an enrolled member is unable to find a replacement, they may contact the co-chairs to learn of any members on a waitlist.
