SUMMARY:Guild Anniversary Celebration with Guild Members
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate our 45th anniversary at our 20th October meeting at 7 p.m. Our October program will include thanking outgoing officers and inaugurating the new officers. Sewing circles will talk about their group and share their Sew ’n‘ Tell work. We would like to introduce the various bees and sewing groups in our guild\, to enlighten both new and long-time members\, and to encourage others to initiate their own. \nPlease contact Lorraine if you wish to have your bee/sewing group share a bit about what you do. Limited to thirty minutes for a total of about seven to eight groups\, first-come first-on-the-list! \nFor our consumption\, we have planned a dessert and a drink. We invite you to bring a savory finger food already plated to share with others. (No cakes.) Please email Jeanie Low if you would like to bring a savory item.

Expect honesty\, humor\, and practical ideas for working with what you already have. \nAbout Radha Weaver \nRadha is a passionate advocate for sustainable quilting and fashion\, and a big fan of quilting your jeans. After a 15-year career in the apparel and textile industry at Levi’s\, she founded Sewing through Fog in 2022 to reconnect with her creative roots. She approaches everything with authenticity\, humor\, and heart\, as she helps quilters transform old fabrics into new treasures. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a lecture by Theresa Benson: Quilting in the Digital Age: Where Technology Meets Tradition \n\n\n\nTheresa Benson once taught a library class on the same day she got 14 stitches in her hand (long story\, short version: a foster dog\, a squirrel\, and a sliding door that won\, decisively). She mentions this only because it explains a lot about how she approaches AI: cautiously\, with a decent first aid kit nearby\, and mostly by trying it herself before she tells you what she thinks. This lecture opens with a trunk show\, including the very first quilt she ever made\, kept on purpose next to her current work so nobody forgets that “beginner” and “bad” aren’t the same thing. From there she walks through what AI is\, where it came from\, and why the timeline surprises almost everyone in the room. You’ll also learn that the rotary cutter was once considered cheating. History repeats\, and so can the panic.
