Our fabulous giveaways have moved outdoors! Here’s what you need to know: This is a drop-in event. It’s for SFQG members only. Participants must wear masks, observe social distancing at all times, and respect any other requirements of the host. Today’s Free Table takes place outside Valerie Lienkaemper’s house, from 9 a.m. to noon. Her contact info is in the Membership Directory. Please click the Calendar tab to see other Free Table dates. Val is organizing other outdoor Free Tables for the guild. Please contact her if you’d like to be a host.  

Three Outdoor Events!

SFQG members can look forward to three outdoor events on Saturday November 7th: Curbside Outreach, from 10 a.m to noon, in front of Adrienne Hickman’s garage. Guild members can drop off donations and pick up components for your next project. Read more here. Outdoor Free Table, from 9 a.m. to noon, in front of Valerie Lienkaemper’s house. Contact Val to drop off fabric early or to volunteer as a future host. SFQG Library, from 10 a.m to 2 p.m., in front of Cher delaMere’s house. Lots of new magazines to check out! The San Francisco Quilters Guild has a long history of making and donating quilts to organizations in San Francisco and the larger community. And this tradition continues in a new form while the pandemic prevents indoor gatherings. Called Curbside Outreach, it’s an opportunity to drop off completed work or donations and pick up any or all components for your next project. Manned by co-chairs Jessica and Adrienne, it typically takes places on the first and third Saturday of the month, from 10 a.m. to noon, in front of Adrienne’s garage. You’ll find Adrienne’s address in the Membership Directory.

November Zoom Meeting: 2 Kiwi Quilters, 10 Years of Nancy Crow and … WOW!

Kathy Anso and Linda Rae, longtime fans and students of quilt artist Nancy Crow, join us all the way from New Zealand, via Zoom. The duo will share their quilting journeys and show us how Nancy’s influence helped them develop their artistic voices. Don’t miss this opportunity to see state-of-the-art quilting in the land of the Kiwis. Free to members and visitors. Zoom Button-Making Workshop for Members Only

Join us for this free members-only workshop by Melanie Perkins of the Crockett Fiber Arts Studio. Learn how to make Dorset buttons, Yorkshire buttons, and fabric-covered buttons, all of which can be used as embellishments on your quilts and other projects. Participation is limited so please act now to reserve your place. Not an SFQG member but want to attend? Click here to join. This workshop is part of a skills exchange with the Spindles & Flyers spinning guild of San Francisco. Their members will learn English paper piece, ours will learn button-making.

Board Meeting

Zoom Meeting

SFQG board meetings take place at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of the month, except December. Meetings are currently taking place via Zoom, but in the past executive board members and committee chairs generally met at the Ortega Branch Library. Committee chair reports should be submitted at least one day in advance, by email, to all participants. Any guild member is welcome to attend; if you'd like to do so, email the guild president to ask for a Zoom link.
