SUMMARY:Follow-Up to Jane Haworth's Zoom Lecture\, Living a Creative Life
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text bb_tab_container=””] \nSuccess! Our first Zoom meeting attracted 137 attendees\, both members and quilters outside of our guild. Our speaker Jane Haworth was quick to follow up with her contact details\, suggested books and podcasts for inspiring creativity\, and a list of art quilting techniques for participants to try. You can download this information as a PDF by clicking here.\n\n\nJane settled in the Sacramento area after growing up in Great Britain. She’s been involved with fabric her whole life\, learning to sew from her grandmother and studying textile design in college in England. Her first real job was at a Laura Ashley factory where she was trained to sew.\n\nAfter setting up a small textile business and working in interior design  in England\, Jane moved to Auburn with her family in 1998. A trip to Kauai inspired her to transfer the colorful images she saw to fabric. The first quilt she entered into a competition won first place—and the prize was a sewing machine! Her work has since been juried into many shows and displayed around the country. \nIn 2012 Jane opened an Etsy shop\, Happy Quilt Designs\, where she sells personalized quilts using her customers’ own t-shirts and other textiles  they send to her. \nJane will be talking about how she became the quilt maker that she is today. She will also talk about how she set up her Etsy shop and some of the challenges her clients present to her. Her goal: “to inspire quilters to go out of their comfort zone and just have fun creating.”\n\nTo learn more about Jane\, check out her website at www.janehaworth.com.\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:A Zoom Meeting with Youngmin Lee on Bojagi\, The Art of Wrapping Cloths
DESCRIPTION:Our second Zoom lecture features textile artist Youngmin Lee\, who will introduce us to the art of Bojagi\, Korean wrapping cloths. Pieced together from small scraps of cloth\, Bojagi occupies a prominent place in the daily lives of Koreans. They are used to wrap or carry everything from precious ritual objects to everyday clothes and common household goods and also to cover food. They can also be strikingly contemporary\, with designs and colors reminiscent of modern abstract art. Youngmin Lee will talk about bojagi during this virtual lecture and show her own bojagi from her studio. \nLearn more about Youngmin here. \nRegister here for this Zoom meeting. You’ll get email instructions for joining the meeting both two days in advance and again two hours before the start time of 7 p.m. Please share the link with friends; it’s free to all.
