DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text bb_tab_container=””]Get up close and personal with a trunk show of small quilts from the Northern California region of the Studio Art Quilt Associates in this hands-on activity led by SAQA fiber artists. The event begins with an introduction to guidelines for critiquing and selecting quilts for exhibition. Then participants break into groups for an up-close look at groups of pieces from the trunk show. Next each group will discuss which piece(s) to propose for inclusion in a show. And then someone in each group pitches their choice to everyone in the room. SUMMARY:From Cardboard to Instagram: Tara Faughnan’s Trunk Show
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text bb_tab_container=””] \n\n\nSince Tara began quilting in 2001—using a reprint of the 1931 edition of 101 Patchwork Patterns—she has rocketed to fame in the modern quilting world\, exhibiting her work and teaching at QuiltCon and doing textile design for such clients as Michael Miller Fabric and Pottery Barn Kids. She will share stories and quilts of her journey from traditional to modern quilter\, with stop-offs in contemporary and art quilting along the way. Her philosophy is about embracing all aspects of quilting to create in the present time. DESCRIPTION:Got little kids in your life? Here’s a quick project that’s sure to please: making little stuffy kittens out of Minky Cuddle fabric. Dottie McHugh\, a longtime member and now an affiliate\, steps participants through the process of making a 7- or 9-inch kitten using a Carol ’s Zoo Kit. The class fee is $10\, payable in advance to Sewcial chair Mary Whalen. The kit costs $13\, payable to Dottie\, and includes patterns\, minky\, plastic eyes and nose. Dottie will have stuffing available\, supplies to make more than one stuffy\, and four basic sewing machines.\nYou can register for this workshop at guild meetings.
