DESCRIPTION:This lecture has been cancelled due to public health concerns. \n[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text bb_tab_container=””]Bojagi (Korean Wrapping Cloths) are pieced together from small scraps of cloth. It is the most unique form of Korean textile art. Bojagi occupied a prominent place in the daily lives of Koreans of all classes. They were used to wrap or carry everything from precious ritual objects to everyday clothes and common household goods and also to cover food. It is also strikingly contemporary: the designs and colors of bojagi remind one of the works of modern abstract artists. Bojagi can be described as a true form of abstract expressionism. Since 2005 she has been making urban quilts: textiles inspired by street art\, signage\, and graffiti. She’s celebrated for her stonescapes\, and in this hands-on workshop you’ll learn some of her techniques. \n  \nShe’ll focus on appliqué and in-setting—exploring why and when to use reverse appliqué … versus turned-edge appliqué … versus raw-edge appliqué … versus in-setting. She’ll address the relative strengths\, benefits and challenges of each technique\, and how to consistently produce predictable\, desired results. \n  \nIf you’re not into stones or landscapes\, no worries! This class is about techniques you can use to improve quilt color and texture\, dimensionality\, craftsmanship and design—no matter what the theme of your quilt. You can expect lots of explanations and demonstrations\, and most important\, hands-on activities that will exercise your creativity\, boost your confidence and add to your skills. \n  \nYou can register for this workshop at guild meetings.
