Join us for a fascinating Zoom presentation about design and technique in modern quiltmaking by the multitalented David Owen Hastings, whose works ranges across graphic design, printmaking, textile arts and creative coaching. Members will find the Zoom link under the Members Only tab and will also receive the link via eBlast. Nonmembers may pay a $5 guest fee and register at this link. David will show us two techniques for designing whole quilts (or quilt blocks): making stitched paper models, called maquettes, or starting off with an architectural photograph. He will also discuss how to design the quilting itself, using the walking foot, so that sewing lines emerge as key design elements. Lastly, we’ll see his many sample mini quilts that combine pared down, graphic design with purposeful quilting. Learn more about David at his web site.
